Complementary acquisition within Possehl’s business division Elastomer Processing
Acquisition of the Farrel Corp. by Harburg-Freudenberger Maschinenbau GmbH (HF)
Lübeck/Hamburg, 11 December 2008. With effect of 9 December 2008, Harburg-
Freudenberger Maschinenbau GmbH (HF), belonging to the Lübeck headquartered Possehl Group, has taken over 100 % of Farrel Corp., US. The Farrel Group achieves sales of approx. 60 m € and has 300 employees at the locations in US, Great Britain, Spain and Singapore.
Besides of batch mixers for the rubber industry, Farrel also produces continuous mixers for the plastics industry. Norbert Scheuch - responsible for the business division HF within the Executive Board of Possehl - explains: “By the take-over of Farrel the HF-Group extends its product portfolio and is less dependent on the tire industry. Farrel will be integrated into the HF-Group as independent segment. By this acquisition, Harburg-Freudenberger strengthens
its market position in the field of rubber mixing technology and consolidates its position as global market leader in this segment after having taken over the mixer manufacturer division of the Italian company Pomini already in January 2007.”
The supervisory boards and antitrust authorities have already approved the transaction.
