 Possehl's Precious Metals Processing division is represented by Heimerle + Meule GmbH since 1960. The company has been doing business from 1845 on, originally as a classical gold and silver parting works.
Since 1920, it has been alloying precious metals, working them into semi-finished products for sale to the jewelry and horological industry. Just about at the same time, Heimerle + Meule was evolving into a major source of precious-metal dental alloys. Then, with the growing significance of the electrical and electronics industry Heimerle + Meule established itself once more as a supplier of competence. The company offers barrel plating as well as strip electroplating of pre-stamped flat strips.
 As of January 2001, Possehl acquired from the Hanau-based Heraeus Group Heraeus Edelmetall Halbzeug GmbH whose operations are being continued at and by Heimerle + Meule. This move represents a significant strengthening of the mainstream jewelry and industrial business, enhancing Heimerle + Meule´s capabilities as a one-stop supplier in the precious metals processing market. Its lineup now ranges from precious-metal parting, jewelry semi-finished and dental products via electrical/electronic contact materials and electroplating to electroplating plant, equipment, and bath solutions.
Markets and customers
Heimerle + Meule sells most of its products to the business community, the jewelry industry (mainly in Germany) using the semi-finished products for making individual pieces of jewelry. According to the ring blanks´ market, Heimerle + Meule manages to assert its leadership.
The company also supplies dental laboratories and practices as well as the electrical and electronics industries. Building up international customer relationships is succeeding in different scales depending on the various product segments.
