Possehl has been acting in the growth market electronics since the end of the 1970s, and has consequently expanded this commitment. Possehl Electronics N. V., the parent company of this division, is headquartered in 's-Hertogenbosch / the Netherlands.

Possehl Electronics is among the top ten producers and suppliers of lead frames for the semiconductor industry worldwide. Thus, Possehl Electronics is the world´s biggest among those based outside of Asia.

After all, what is a "lead frame" ? Lead frames are the most important product group of Possehl Electronics: minute multipole conductor and substrate elements onto which the silicon chips are mounted. Possehl Electronics is an integrated lead-frame manufacturer, with stamped and etched products: Additionally, it coats the substrate elements and supplies specialty assembly and several mounting techniques. Possehl Electronics manufactures lead frames for the integrated circuits (ICs) used in mobile phones, cars or personal computers, for instance, integrated electronic power switches with high thermal specifications (as used on cars), and discretes (low-pole products used in visual applications or household appliances).

Possehl Electronics has also advanced to the stage of commercial production the Flex BGA (ball grid array) technology, a flexible and miniaturized plastic substrate capable of supplanting conventional IC lead-frame products in applications requiring a large number of connections.

Besides its lead frame and substrate (BGA) business concentrating on Europe, Asia, and North Africa, Possehl Electronics' North American locations coat connector elements, connecting parts for the electronic connector industry.

For both itself and external customers, Possehl Electronics produces the tooling used in the manufacture of lead frames.

The products of Possehl Electronics are used in the automobile, consumer goods, telecommunications and other related industries.

Possehl´s Electronics division started off into the future as Possehl Elektronik + Isolierstoff GmbH in Wedel at the end of the 70s: The company has, amongst others, so far been supplier for special radio tube parts. As these parts had been substituted by semiconductor products, Possehl adapted its processing, especially with new tools and equipments, to the challenges of the new markets. In 1980, the way was paved to growth in electronics being prepared for a new product generation - lead frames.

At the early 1980s, Possehl expanded from Germany to Europe, and only a few years later followed the world´s largest semiconductor producers dragging to Asia. The reason: The semiconductor producers shifted their packaging capacities (mounting of chip and lead frame) more and more to Asia. In this process the Possehl product is "finally enlivened" and set on track to its latter application.

Nowadays, lead frames business and production chiefly takes place in Asia, but Possehl Electronics still operates Europe-based with its main functions just as many of its most important customers do.
